Summit Talent Group Initiates Director Talent Acquisition Search

The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct a national search for the position of Director – Talent Acquisition (DTA). Reporting to the Vice President – Talent Management, the DTA has responsibility for 30 talent acquisition team members, located in the highly accessible Baltimore metropolitan region, BWI business district.

This role will focus on establishing talent acquisition strategies and scaling enterprise processes, policies and services that align with the core values and mission of the organization: compassionate care and customer service excellence. In doing so, the DTA provides a unifying vision and plan for leading a centralized Talent Acquisition Center of Excellence, transforming and standardizing processes that meet the requirements of a clinical and administrative leaders, spread throughout a large geographical footprint.

The DTA will drive proactive recruiting strategies and tactics aimed at attracting, assessing, and selecting top talent, with focus on: fit-for-hire; behavioral based interview models; retention; succession; and the needs of the next generation workforce. The incumbent will be a champion for driving customer service, an engaged workforce, and the attraction of multi-cultural talent that reflects the diverse communities in which they serve.

The incumbent will have a penchant for all facets of the talent acquisition process, serving as an expert resource and mentor for the recruitment team and internal customers. The DTA will be a “roll-up the sleeves” leader providing a bias for responsiveness in addressing real-time requests that are inextricably tied to the demands of a high volume recruitment, “24/7” operating environment.

Critical to this role is branding and marketing the UMMS tradition and reputation of quality care and research both nationally and to the communities it serves. The DTA will network with key external constituents such as state government, universities, professional associations, and vendor partners in developing long-term talent pipelines, and remain current on market labor trends. The DTA will ensure adherence to federal, state, and local compliance and reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate will have earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related area; a Masters’ degree, PHR/SPHR, Lean Six Sigma, and/or PMP certifications are highly desired. Five years of talent acquisition leadership experience in a large, complex organization is required. Candidates with a background in analyzing, tracking, and forecasting mechanisms to measure results, impact, service levels, budget stewardship and cost-effectiveness are highly desired.
