Reporting to Senior Director of Emergency and Critical at UCHealth Memorial Hospital, the facility is 413-bed, Level I Trauma Center and Certified Stroke Center. The organization has been awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award for the Oncology Service Line from the American College of Surgeon’s Commission on Cancer and recognized as Rehab Patient Care Unit “Top Performer.”

The Director will have oversight of Critical Care services at both Memorial Hospital Central and Memorial North Campuses, with responsibility for driving standardization of processes, clinical quality, and performance excellence, with 40 total ICU beds and approximately 95 FTEs.

Stylistically, the incumbent will be a proactive and forward-thinking leader, skilled at listening and utilizing staff expertise to improve the quality of care. In addition, the Director will promote a culture of accountability and engagement with all providers.

Critical to success in this role will be the ability to: collaborate with Medical Directors; drive metrics with focus on core measures and process against national benchmarks, coding & clinical documentation, standardization of nursing care, process improvement (order sets and protocols), patient overflow & utilization, and multi-disciplinary rounding.

Duties and responsibilities will include the evaluation and/or management of: departmental operations, IT tools, service levels, staffing activities, continuing education, budgets, quality & financial outcomes, and compliance.

The ideal candidate will have an earned BSN; master’s degree in nursing or related field; active RN with the ability to obtain licensure in Colorado; and CCRN certification. Five years of clinical nursing inpatient leadership experience in a complex critical care community and/or academic environment, coupled with a track record of program growth and strong physician relationships.
