Summit Talent Group Initiates Search for TJUH Nursing Director Emergency Services – Center City Division

Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals (TJUH) in Philadelphia, PA has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct a national search for the position of Nursing Director of Patient Care Services for Emergency Services (Nursing Director) at the Center City and Methodist campuses.
Reporting to the Vice President Patient Care Services- Emergency Services, Trauma, and Burn Program, the Nursing Director provides oversight and leadership for the clinical, financial, staffing, and patient care services at:
– TJUH Center City Emergency Department, a level I trauma center and comprehensive stroke center
– TJUH Clinical Decision Unit, a 23-bed observation unit
– Jefferson Methodist Emergency Department
– Jefferson/Will’s Eye Specialty Emergency Department

Supporting the clinical excellence standards of a Magnet-designated organization and an Epic (ASAP) EMR environment, the incumbent manages a total of 130,000 ED visits annually; total observation visits (7,500 equivalent patient days/year); a budget of $39.6m; and 291FTEs.

The Nursing Director fosters relationships where nursing is integral to the organizational culture, working collaboratively with the medical staff and nurse leaders with a focus on quality standards, innovative practice, and employee & patient engagement; culminating in a tenured nursing staff that enjoys an outstanding reputation for care, mentored by highly educated, caring leaders in nursing (“Swab Squad”).

An ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, an ability to promote and engage in teamwork, an ability to quickly adapt and re-prioritize one’s work, and an ability to lead and develop personnel. The candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the health care industry with a focus on emergency and trauma center operations.

Minimum qualifications include but are not limited to a master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required (DNP preferred). Ten (10) years’ Emergency nursing experience and Five (5) years’ experience in emergency department leadership. Active RN License and BLS/ACLS required, Nurse Executive-Board Certification (NE-BC) and CEN preferred. Demonstrated leadership management capabilities and an ability to provide effective leadership for the Department of Nursing and Patient Care Division.
