Summit Talent Group Places Manager, Medical Staff Services Credentialing

Summit Talent Group is thrilled to announce that Marsha Burke, a seasoned healthcare professional with over 20 years of extensive experience, has joined University Hospitals of Cleveland as the Manager, Medical Staff Services Credentialing. Marsha’s wealth of expertise in healthcare, coupled with her commitment to excellence, positions her as an invaluable addition to the esteemed institution. We look forward to the positive impact she will undoubtedly make at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

In her most recent role as Credentialing Manager at KentuckyOne Health Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, Marsha showcased exceptional skills in customer service and communication. She has a proven track record of ensuring the efficiency of credentialing processes. Marsha is a Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), highlighting her dedication to maintaining high standards in credentialing practices.

During her tenure at KentuckyOne Health, Marsha’s responsibilities included overseeing the processing of initial and reappointment applications, ensuring primary source verification, and providing meticulous oversight to meet accreditation requirements.

Marsha’s comprehensive understanding of the credentialing process extended to communication with Licensed Independent Practitioners, ensuring compliance with hospital bylaws, policies, and regulatory requirements. Her role involved direct supervision and evaluation of office staff, maintaining communication between governing boards, medical staff, and department heads.

Marsha’s significant contributions extend to process improvement, notably in revamping malpractice requirements. Recognizing inefficiencies in collecting extensive historical data, she analyzed the credentialing process as a whole. The revelation that collecting five years’ worth of information added 10,000+ business days prompted a policy shift. Marsha, after auditing 100 previously processed files, streamlined the process by allowing the Credentialing Verification Organization (CVO) to collect only current malpractice insurance, reducing the turnaround time by two weeks.

Before her role at KentuckyOne, Marsha served as a Billing Manager at Lexington Diagnostic Center, where she managed billing personnel, handled patient communication regarding payment plans and insurance benefits, and ensured the integrity of financial statements.

Marsha holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration from West Virginia Institute of Technology, Montgomery, West Virginia. Her educational background, combined with her extensive work history, reflects her commitment to excellence in healthcare administration.
