Howard University Hospital has retained Healthcare Executive Search Firm, Summit Talent Group to conduct a national search for the position of Executive Director – Operations (EDO). Based in our nation’s capital, Washington, DC, Howard University Hospital (HUH) is an urban teaching hospital providing the full continuum of care, with a mission of addressing health disparities and providing service to the most vulnerable among us. Paladin Healthcare partners with HUH on day-to-day management of the hospital system.
Executive Director Operations Search
Reporting directly to the HUH Chief Executive Officer, the EDO oversees clinical and support operations to include Facilities, Environmental Services, Nutrition Services, Parking, Patient Transport, Public Safety, Rehabilitation Services, Radiology, Oncology, Lab Services, Sleep Lab and Dental Services.
The incumbent builds on HUH’s strategic direction of preserving community-based hospital services and enhancing the patient experience. Working closely with the HUH executive leadership team and department directors, as well as University administration and Faculty Practice Plan, the EDO is responsible for effectively navigating a matrix structure to: maintain accrediting and safety standards; standardize processes; drive operational effectiveness and cost containment; promote continuous improvement training and initiatives; manage vendor contract performance and accountability – all leading to quality patient care outcomes, satisfaction and engagement.
The ideal candidate will have earned a Master’s Degree in healthcare administration or similar field from an accredited institution. With a passion for collaboration with physicians, staff and the community, the incumbent will embrace a culture of diversity and have a career trajectory of promotional roles within operations, demonstrating a focus on financial stewardship, experience in a unionized environment and a communications style that promotes transparency, teamwork, and mission. The ability to influence and inspire, in a respectful and tactful manner, coupled with setting clear expectations, is critical to success.

As Operations Manager for Summit Talent Group, Kyle is the primary resource for preparing client and candidate interview materials and supports the recruiting team with scheduling, organizing travel, and project management. She manages the office administrative function, including client contracts, proposals, invoicing and billing. Kyle also maintains the public website, manages all of the company’s technology and database tools, and researches innovative applications to ensure efficient recruitment operations. She is a graduate of Howard Community College in Columbia, MD, with an Associate Degree in Business Administration.
