Summit Talent Group Initiates Director of Nursing Education Executive Search

University Hospitals (UH) has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct a national search for the position of Director Nursing Education & Nurse Leader Center.

University Hospitals (UH), headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio is a nationally recognized health system with 11 hospitals and $3.3b net patient revenue.

The Director embodies the UH cultural norms of “Inspire. Innovate. Achieve.” by engaging nursing professionals of all levels in the journey of continuous learning, education, & development.

Reporting to the University Hospitals Nursing Council, the system-level leadership team that drives nursing standardization and nursing practice, the Director manages a team of nurse educators, as well as interfacing clinical training resources at each entity.

As part of the newly developed Nurse Leader Center, the Director leads the nursing leader progression model, a four-stage framework (bedside, emerging, advancing, system leaders) designed to identify, select and develop individuals who demonstrate potential, competency and motivation for progressive leadership growth.

The Director provides leadership and direction for nursing education and staff development across the UH system, promoting professional nursing practice, excellence in nursing quality, and a national reputation for nursing education. Success is defined through a set of metrics and deliverables impacting evidence-based practice, economies of scale, nurse engagement, and delivery of high-quality patient care.

Stylistically, the incumbent will be an outstanding influencer and collaborative partner across a complex continuum of care, having a natural executive presence, with a penchant for project management and strategy implementation. Paramount to success is listening, learning, and developing relationships internally, with nursing schools, with professional associations, as well as with surrounding communities.

The ideal candidate will have earned a Master of Science in Nursing, preferably a PhD or DNP; a minimum five years of leadership experience in managing nursing education within a large teaching hospital/healthcare system; and expertise in a variety of traditional and online learning/development tools as well as experiential methods. A track record of progressive self-educational advancement and leadership gravitas is highly valued.
