Summit Talent Group Completes Executive Search for Regional Chief Medical Officer

January 15, 2018: After a national executive search, Bon Secours Health System has selected Dr. Thomas Cummins as the new Senior Vice President and Regional Chief Medical Officer for Bon Secours St. Francis Health System in Greenville, SC.

Dr. Cummins comes to Bon Secours from CHI St. Vincent in Arkansas, where he held the position of Senior Vice President & Chief Medical Officer for the four-hospital, 850-bed system. Dr. Cummins also acted as Chief Medical Information Officer for the system, as well as CMO for the 350-provider medical group. Dr. Cummins’ responsibilities included executive leadership over pharmacy operations, quality, safety, regulatory matters, infection prevention, risk management, performance improvement, medical staff affairs, credentialing, privileging, data governance, data management, information technology, and clinical informatics. Additionally, he was a Board member of the Arkansas Health Network, a clinically integrated network covering over 70,000 lives.

Previously, he was Chief Medical Officer and Director of Hospital Medicine for White River Medical Center in Batesville, AR. Dr. Cummins was also in a private practice in Batesville and served as President of the White River Hospital Organization.

Dr. Cummins earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Baylor University in Waco, TX and completed his Doctor of Medicine degree as well as his Residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He earned a Master in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Cummins is a member of the American Association of Physician Leadership and the American College of Physicians.
