Summit Talent Group Initiates Executive Search for Chief Executive Officer
Bon Secours Health System, Inc. (BSHSI) has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct a national search for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center (MMC) in Portsmouth, VA, and Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View (HV) in Suffolk, VA. Bon Secours is a nationally recognized Catholic-sponsored hospital system with operations in five states; MMC and HV are part of Bon Secours Virginia (BSV), totaling $2b net revenue, eight hospitals, 11,000 employees, and 1,350 beds. The MMC/HV CEO reports to the BSV Chief Operating Officer.

MMC is a 346-bed acute care facility serving approximately 452,200 residents; HV is a multi-specialty ambulatory operation offering Emergency Services, Women’s Resources Center, and the state-of-the-art Bon Secours Cancer Institute. Additional services include: laboratory, medical acupuncture, physical therapy, endoscopy, cardiovascular, colorectal, orthopedic, spinal, weight-loss/bariatric, and family medicine services.
The CEO operates in a matrix management structure, accountable for operational objectives acutely focused on financial turnaround, service line development (cardiovascular, oncology, OB/GYN), transitions of care, and the building of physician relationships. The incumbent will be the champion for the employee engagement campaign, “Maryview Pride” and provide the patient experience framework that embraces the challenges and needs of the local population, making a real difference in the health of the surrounding communities.
Vital to this role is a CEO whose natural leadership style is to be “hands-on” and visible throughout the facilities on a daily basis. As part of his or her management philosophy, the CEO must be passionate about continually bringing leaders and staff together to foster an environment of care; promote collaboration and communication; and drive improvements in quality metrics such as length of stay, re-admissions, and hospital-acquired infections.
The ideal candidate will have earned a MBA or MHA and have at least five years of experience at the CEO or COO level of a 200+ bed hospital within a large, complex, acute care health system. Critical experiences include serving an urban population and facilitating the growth of the employed physician network.

As Operations Manager for Summit Talent Group, Kyle is the primary resource for preparing client and candidate interview materials and supports the recruiting team with scheduling, organizing travel, and project management. She manages the office administrative function, including client contracts, proposals, invoicing and billing. Kyle also maintains the public website, manages all of the company’s technology and database tools, and researches innovative applications to ensure efficient recruitment operations.
