Summit Talent Group Initiates Executive Search for Perioperative Service Line Director

The University of Colorado Health (UCH) has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct a national executive search for the Perioperative Service Line Director (PSLD) – Colorado Springs. This is a regional position consisting of Memorial Hospital Central (MHC), Memorial Hospital North (MHN) and Printers Park Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). Perioperative Service Line Director Search

The PSLD reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and has accountability for ten direct reports and 370 full-time employees. The PSLD is supported by the Director of Surgical Services who handles the day-to-day operations of the MHN and Printers Park ASC. In this highly influential role, the PSLD works closely with their direct reports who are leaders over the main Operating Rooms, Pre/Post Op care, Central Sterile Processing, and Anesthesia, to ensure high-quality patient care, safety, compliance, and service excellence.

Working collaboratively with the Medical Directors of Surgery and Anesthesiology, the incumbent is accountable for strategic, operational, and growth objectives for the Service Line across three campuses, inclusive of twenty-four operating suites; hybrid ORs; endoscopy; sterile processing; and all support perioperative services.

Drawing on strong clinical knowledge of complex surgical services, the PSLD plans and directs all aspects of patient care, operational & financial processes, performance & outcomes, culminating in 20,000 procedures a year.

Critical to success in this role is a passion for driving cultural transformation, a partnership with surgical staff, and building the infrastructure to support the growth in surgical services, to include a Level I Trauma Designation in 2018 and expansion of the Cardiothoracic program.

The ideal candidate will have earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master’s degree in Nursing, Business, and/or Healthcare, a CNOR certification with five years surgical services leadership experience involving strategy and business planning. Highly valued are candidates that have demonstrated accomplishments in an integrated health system with a high acuity of surgical cases and multi-site responsibilities.
