Summit Talent Group Initiates Search for Operating Room Manager

Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct a national Operating Room Manager search (ORM). CHOC is comprised of two facilities: CHOC Children’s Hospital (Orange, CA) and CHOC Children’s at Mission Hospital (Mission Viejo, CA) totaling 333 beds.

Ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report (2015-16), CHOC is a Magnet-designated hospital and recipient of the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence, and affiliated with the University of California, Irvine.

CHOC has four institutes: Heart, Neuroscience, Orthopaedic and the Hyundai Cancer Institute; over 30 specialty areas are treated, from allergy to urology, supported by more than 600 providers on the medical staff and greater than 500 residents, fellows and medical students who undergo pediatric training at CHOC every year.

Reporting to the Director of Peri-Operative Services, the ORM is responsible for over 50 FTEs in the OR and 15 FTEs in the Sterile Processing Department.

A BSN/RN and licensed in the state of California, the incumbent has accountability for the delivery of quality care, patient safety and satisfaction, staff performance and education, while maintaining an orientation to fiscal management and sound business decisions. The ORM manages the day to day functions of the operating room in collaboration with anesthesia.

Key duties include: management of workforce, position control and productivity; focus on clinical outcomes and infection prevention; employee engagement (Huddles); policy updates; staff education and orientation; regulatory compliance; budget; scheduling; physician relations; and participation in standing committees and meetings.
