Karen Buck, MSN, RN, a Board-Certified Nurse Executive and Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, serves as Summit Talent Group’s Chief Nursing Executive Consultant. Karen has been practicing nursing for over two decades, with an additional 15 years serving as a Surgical Technologist.
Karen’s nursing career began as a staff nurse at the William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT, where she ultimately served as Clinical Director over 11 operating rooms. Karen helped launch a multi-specialty, free-standing Surgery Center and held the position of Director of Pequot Surgery Center in Groton, CT for four years before her role expanded to Assistant Chief Nursing Officer and Director of Perioperative and Perinatal Services at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, Pequot Surgery Center and Westerly Hospital. Karen also served as Interim Chief Nursing Officer and Associate Chief Nursing Officer for Lawrence + Memorial Hospital and Pequot Surgery Center.
Most recently, Karen held the long-term interim position of Vice President Perioperative Services at Wyoming Medical Center for two years, working both on-site and remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Karen earned her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees at Excelsior College in Albany, NY. She is Nurse-Executive Board Certified (NE-BC) and a Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR), as well as a Certified High Reliability Instructor.
