Valley Health System (VHS) has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct a national search for the position of VP Human Resources – Business Partnerships Winchester Medical Center & Corporate Employee Health (VPHR). VHS is a hospital system headquartered in Winchester, VA with six acute care hospitals and $1b net patient revenue.
The VPHR serves in several key leadership capacities: executive management team for WMC; liaison to corporate leadership; system champion for employee health & safety; and oversight for the volunteer program. Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer & Senior Vice President, Community Health and Wellness and matrix to VHS Senior Vice President and President of Winchester Medical Center (WMC), the incumbent manages a team of HR business partners and other professionals, tasked with influencing system culture and providing responsive customer service.
Critical to success in this role is collaborating with senior leadership, communicating and promoting the VHS journey to High Reliability — essential elements include quality of care, employee and physician engagement, patient satisfaction, and meeting the challenges of the generational workforce of the future.
Further, the incumbent will support and initiate organizational development strategies to: drive sustainable improvements in productivity, retention and engagement; align quality outcomes with competitive employee incentives; recognize uniqueness of the nursing and caregiver professions; embrace emerging technologies that bolsters the growth of VHS.
The VPHR will partner with the human resource center of excellence leaders (organizational development, talent acquisition, total rewards & HR operations) to utilize HR process standardization and tools to develop leaders and teams to their highest potential.
The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in HR or related field, a minimum of ten years HR experience, at least five years in leadership capacity. Highly valued: demonstrated experience in a complex health system environment, HR business partner and center of excellence models, & SPHR or PHR certification.
