Rady Children’s Hospital – San Diego (Rady) has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct a national search for the position of Director – Surgical Services (Director).
Nationally recognized for medical excellence, Rady Children’s is highly ranked in all 10 pediatric specialties surveyed by U.S. News & World Report and has achieved Magnet® designation.
Reporting to the Vice President, Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer, the Director serves on a leadership team with colleagues in the areas of neonatal, emergency care, intensive care, hematology & oncology, med/surg, behavioral health, cardiovascular intensive care, respiratory and transplant & dialysis. Further, the Director leads a team of two nurse managers (OR and SPD), two supervisors, nurse educator, admin assistant and a business analyst; total of 130 FTEs.
The Director communicates with leadership and staff to facilitate process and productivity improvement, workforce development, fiscal & supply chain management, employee engagement, regulatory compliance, accreditation standards and customer service excellence aligned with Rady’s strategy, mission & values.
Critical to success is a visible leader who actively champions quality outcomes & drives key dashboard metrics with a focus on high-level infections, block time utilization, turnover times, and first case start times. The incumbent will be skilled in implementing OR standardization, clinical workflows, pre-op processes, service line grows, and fostering a culture of collaboration with physicians and nursing.
The ideal candidate will have an earned Master of Science in Nursing and five years OR leadership experience in a complex environment, preferably with a focus in pediatrics. California RN license is required. Highly valued is expertise in sterile processing, OR renovations, capital equipment evaluation and employee wellness programs.
