The Carmelite System has retained Summit Talent Group to search for the executive position of Director of Nursing (DON) for Carmel Manor located in Fort Thomas, KY. At Carmel Manor, mission matters. Sponsored by the Carmelite Sisters, whose sole purpose is to take care of people at the end of life with love, compassion, and joy, Carmel Manor offers individualized nursing care for residents in a warm, home-like setting, including a Personal Care unit, a Rehabilitation program, and a Long-Term Care unit.
Carmel Manor has cared for the physical, spiritual, and intellectual needs of the whole person since 1949. Carmel Manor is licensed for 95 beds, offering skilled nursing, rehabilitation, and memory/ dementia care.
The DON is responsible to set the example and instill the nursing staff with the mission and core values of the Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm, of Sanctity of Life, hospitality, Shared Commitment, and Compassion to ensure that the highest degree of quality resident care is delivered to our residents. The DON is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the operations of the Nursing Services Department in accordance with local, state and federal regulation, established home policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Administrator and Medical Director to provide the best care and services to the residents. The DON provides leadership to ensure quality care and current clinical practices, facilitate clinical initiatives, promote innovation, and develop practices for quality outcomes.

Education: (Minimum required) Associate Degree in Nursing with 2 years’ experience in the Director of Nursing role. Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Preferred.
Licensure: Current KY Nursing License.
Experience and/or Pre-requisites:
- Minimum 5 years’ management experience in long term care
- Well-rounded leadership experience and have integrated clinical/operational with fiscal acumen.
- Solid clinical understanding.
- Knowledge of skilled nursing facility regulations & compliance
Skills and Abilities
- Must be an effective leader with proven experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in long term care
- Knowledge and ability to use designated software
- Maintains CPR for Health Care Providers Certification.
- Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must have sound knowledge of Federal and State regulations, Medicaid, Medicare and managed care requirements.
- Must plan and organize work assignments in an ever-changing environment.
- Must make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
