Summit Talent Group Completes Director Clinical Nursing Executive Search
August 15, 2018: After a national executive search, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center has selected Corey Russell, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, OCN, as the new Director, Clinical Nursing – Hematology Units. The search was conducted by the healthcare executive search firm, Summit Talent Group.

Corey comes to MD Anderson from Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, GA, where he served as the Specialty Director, Oncology & Solid Organ Transplant. He led the merger of multiple inpatient oncology units, championed the opening of a new 240-bed medical tower, and served as the co-lead for the implementation of CAR T-cell therapy.
Previously, Corey held the position of Patient Care Director, Medical Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive hospitals. While at NewYork-Presbyterian, Corey assisted in the opening of a 19-bed Medical Oncology Unit. Corey also served in multiple nursing leadership positions at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, including Nurse Leader for Nursing Practice; and Clinical Nurse Specialist, Gastrointestinal Chemotherapy. Corey began his nursing career at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD, as a clinical research nurse for Bone Marrow Transplant patients.
Corey earned his Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Clinical Trials Administration from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA, and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Berea College in Berea, KY. He has received certifications in Six Sigma Greenbelt and Six Sigma Healthcare and is an Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) as well as a Nurse Executive-Advance Board Certified.
