June 3, 2019 – The Children’s Hospital of Orange County’s (CHOC) physician hospital consortium, CHOC Health Alliance (CHA), has completed a successful search for the Medical Director, Utilization Management and Quality Improvement. Working with Summit Talent Group on the search, CHA selected Dr. David Granger to tackle the newly created role.

Dr. Granger attended medical school at Wayne State University in Detroit and served as Chief Resident after his pediatric residency at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. A practicing pediatrician since 2005, Granger has had a long-standing passion for public health, having earned an MPH from the University of Michigan and spent time working on tobacco prevention early in his career.

Granger comes to CHA from THH Pediatrics in Germantown, MD, where he has been a physician and business partner for over a decade. He was a driving force behind Mid-Atlantic Pediatric Partners, a collaboration of like-minded pediatric practices formed to improve metrics and expand services to the pediatric population. Dr. Granger earned an executive MBA from Duke and leveraged his business skills to create and enhance service lines of the practice including psychology, travel, and lactation services. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Granger has also served as the elected Chair of the Pediatric Department for Shady Grove Adventist Medical Center in Rockville, MD where he focused on quality and performance improvement and risk management.

As part of CHA’s team, Granger will combine his business acumen with his love of pediatrics, ensuring that quality patient care is provided with regard to maximizing resources. Granger will be responsible for the development of the utilization management program with regard to California’s Whole Child Model of healthcare. In this new position, Granger will provide medical administrative leadership, oversight, and education to both the CHOC inpatient and CHA ambulatory utilization management teams.

“I am very honored to have been given the opportunity to work with such an amazing team at CHOC and CHA,” stated Granger. “I am looking forward to building partnerships that will enhance the health and wellbeing of children in Orange County.”
