Summit Talent Group Initiates Search for Chief Medical Officer

Bon Secours Health System, Inc. (BSHSI) has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct a national Chief Medical Officer Search (CMO) for St. Mary’s Hospital, in Richmond, VA. St. Mary’s Hospital, with 400 licensed beds, is the flagship for the multi-billion and multi-state Bon Secours Health System, recognized for the following: CMS 4 Star Rating; Safety Score of “A” by Leapfrog Group; Only non-academic Joint Commission (JC) Certified Comprehensive Stroke Center in Virginia and in the immediate four state region; JC Disease Specific Certification for Hip and Knee replacements; JC Disease Specific Certification for Acute Myocardial Infarction and Advanced Heart Failure; Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery; Advanced Palliative Care award and the Disease Specific Certification for Advanced Ventricular Assist Device; Magnet Designation since 2008.

The incumbent drives an agenda of High Reliability Medicine (safety, quality, value, decreased variations and evidence based medical standards), and is a champion for change management and performance improvement that leads to sustained, top-decile patient and financial outcomes across the continuum of care.

Working in a long-standing culture of employee engagement and patient experience excellence, the CMO partners with nursing, the medical staff and other disciplines, and is well-versed in courageous conversations that instill accountability and align with the Bon Secours Mission, Values and Operating Principles.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital, the CMO functions in both a hospital and regional model, part of a clinical interdisciplinary collaborative with the Regional Chief Medical Officer, System Chief Nursing Executive, System Chief Medical Officer and other leaders.

The ideal candidate is a Doctor of Medicine in a current CMO/VPMA role within a complex health system. An MBA, MMM, MHA or similar degree is preferred as well as certification in Lean Six Sigma or other performance improvement methods.
