WMC is the only Level II trauma center in WY, encompassing 235 beds on two campuses and 1,300 employees. In June 2018, WMC added, via acquisition, a 23-bed surgical hospital, known as the WMC East Campus; in addition, in 2014 WMC opened the McMurry West Tower, 100,000 square feet of state-of-the-art medical office space. WMC provides the most comprehensive and sophisticated health care in the state and serves as a regional referral center for a population of 250,000.

As a member of the executive team, the CAO will have direct oversight for both campuses and bring to the role expertise in areas of negotiation & vendor management, budgets, cost containment, process improvement, project management, service level agreements, metrics & analytics, and employee/patient engagement.

At the core of the CAO’s duties will be the management of ancillary services, contractual facility services, construction management, integration of acquisitions, and infrastructure support for WMC’s “hub & spoke” operating model.

Critical to this role is the demonstrated ability to be accountable for dispersed multi-site operations & outcomes, financial stewardship, and penchant for customer service that is measured for long-term growth and sustainability. In doing so, the CAO will partner with members of the senior leadership team on a variety of innovative initiatives that align with WMC’s strategic plan to be the premier provider in the state and bolster clinical affiliations across a multi-state geography.

The ideal candidate will have earned a master’s degree in a healthcare management related field with ten years of acute-care senior level operations experience in a complex and competitive market is required. The incumbent’s natural leadership style is to be teamwork oriented, accountable, visible, and to value personal as well as professional relationships.
