Summit Talent Group Completes Chief Financial Officer Executive Search

When conducting this Chief Financial Officer executive search, the team at Summit Talent Group worked to identify an individual experienced in healthcare operations, financial strategy and financial management. There was special emphasis put on finding talent proficient in revenue enhancement and business growth.

Because St. Vincents is a part of Ascension, the largest not-for-profit hospital system in the US and the world’s largest Catholic health system, they were particularly concerned with governance models, in particular, looking to reduce operating costs.

It was of the utmost importance to identify candidates who would be prepared to work to centralize traditional finance functions (for example general accounting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable) and go beyond traditional finance standardization, taking an enterprise approach to revenue cycle and the niche areas of financial specialization such as treasury, tax and government reimbursement.

The role of “regional” Chief Financial Officer is truly a non-traditional role as it has evolved into a strategic role of performance improvement, business development, return on capital investment and predictive analytics, in partnership with operations leaders.

The new Chief Financial Officer needed to be able to significantly boost revenues through program growth, acquisitions and partnerships, and contract negotiations and to immediately come in and set up programs to improve revenue capture; reform leadership culture to focus on growth, efficiency, and data-driven decision making.

In order to complete the search quickly and effectively, the team of executive search consultants at Summit Talent Group, led by Mary Louise Howe spent time getting to know the St. Vincent’s Health team, its mission, and culture.  This ensured that the candidates presented would be an ideal match in more than just certifications and experience. When working to place a position as important as a CFO in a Faith-Based healthcare organization, it is of utmost importance to be sure that the talent is also a good cultural fit and that he or she is ready to fully commit to the mission of the organization.

Once the Summit Talent Group team had created a talent persona, an engagement timeline was set up to assist the leadership team at St. Vincent’s to prepare for interviews, visits, offers, and finally relocations. At Summit Talent Group, we believe in being there for our partners every step of the way.
