Summit Talent Group Initiates Search for Associate Chief Medical Officer

Associate Chief Medical Officer – Doctors Community Hospital (DCH)

Summit Talent Group has been retained to conduct an executive search for the position of Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for Doctors Community Hospital (DCH). DCH is a premier medical and surgical hospital located in a Maryland suburb of Washington, DC. Dedicated to passionately caring for patients and the community, this award-winning organization is recognized in nephrology, neurology and orthopedics.

DCH is building its physician management team across the continuum of care, creating this new ACMO position. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), the ACMO will have three management direct reports and a total of approximately 40 FTEs in the areas of case management, transitional care, quality and risk. The ACMO will be the CMO’s designee, representing the CMO at meetings and associations, with delegated authority.

Critical to success in this role is to be the physician champion in the areas of: utilization review (length of stay, readmissions, denials) with the goal to build cross-functional clinical teams that round daily and drive quality outcomes, improve care transitions and the patient experience. Upon hire, the ACMO will focus on driving process improvement, ensuring policies, procedures, and documented work-flows are instituted and aligned with regulatory governing bodies and benchmark standards of care.

Second nature to the ACMO role is a physician executive who is “involved in the data,” continually seeking opportunities to educate, communicate and influence employed, contracted and community physicians with evidence-based protocols, thus requiring the incumbent physician executive to be fluent in extracting, analyzing, and sharing data from the electronic medical record.

Finally, the expectation is the ACMO will be proactive at facilitating crucial conversations with physician colleagues, serving as a point of accountability for interactions with physicians and other DCH leaders.

The ideal candidate is a medical doctor, licensed in the state of Maryland, with an advanced management degree or willing to earn such a degree during employment at DCH. Physicians candidates with refined executive presence, demonstrated experience serving in leadership roles on committees/major projects, or current medical directors/physician advisors within integrated systems will be considered.
