Summit Talent Group Initiates Search for Administrative Director, Laboratory Services

Administrative Director Laboratory Services Search

Unified Physician Management (UPM) has retained Summit Talent Group to conduct an executive search for the newly created role of Administrative Director, Laboratory Services (ADLS) in Tampa, FL, serving UPM’s Florida market. Reporting to UPM’s Chief Operating Officer, the ADLS will manage the relationships with the third party reference laboratory, senior UPM management, practice providers and the employees of the laboratory.

The ADLS builds on UPM’s strategic direction of preserving community-based private practice, increasing ancillary services and enhancing the patient experience. Working closely with the third-party reference laboratory advisors and leaders, the ADLS is responsible for the build and launch of a clinical laboratory in a three-stage process: logistics and histology testing services; the addition of molecular testing; broadening laboratory services to cytology and other specialized testing.

The ADLS will organize, direct and evaluate UPM’s laboratory operations and performance, soliciting feedback from the providers and benchmarking best practices and ensuring efficient communication with a focus on quality, accuracy, and timeliness.

As the leader in the development and disposition of a fully compliant laboratory environment, the Administrative Director of Laboratory Services will monitor and enforce staff competency and training, safety protocols, infection controls, accreditation standards and other regulatory environmental practices.

Critical to this role are well-developed skill sets in the areas of: facilitation of third-party partnerships; design and launch of a new laboratory facility through to maturity; data-proven patient and provider satisfaction; and working in a fast-paced, matrix, growth-oriented environment that values entrepreneurial spirit.

The ideal candidate will have earned a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning, preferably in life sciences, with five years in a supervisory capacity. Candidates with additional academic credentials and certifications, and a diverse laboratory and business operations background, are highly valued.
